Definition
This measure reports open WordPress plugin support threads and the share of them resolved. It covers plugins whose listing carries a published thread count, broken out by popularity rank. It shows how much open support activity sits against each rank at a single point in time, not across the whole month. The resolved share is calculated from the same thread field the open count is drawn from.
Population and window
Rivale measures support load across the top 12,500 plugins that carry the support-thread field, by popularity rank. The window is a single date, the last day of the report month, not activity summed across the month. The popularity ranks are the same three used across this dictionary.
How it is computed
Counted from the support-thread fields on each plugin listing, for the plugins where the field is present. Reported by popularity rank: the number of open threads, the share resolved, and the share of plugins with no open threads.
How to read it
The figures are drawn only from plugins where WordPress.org publishes a thread count on the listing. Plugins without the field are left outside this measure, not counted as having no open threads. Read it beside removed reviews and plugins gaining no ratings for other forms of user feedback at the same popularity ranks. The share of plugins with no open threads, reported alongside the rest, shows how support activity is spread within a rank. Comparing ranks can show whether more popular plugins carry a different open-thread pattern than less popular ones.
What it is not
Support load does not cover every plugin in the top 12,500 plugins. It only covers those with a published thread count, so it is not a full directory-wide figure. It does not say how quickly any thread was resolved or what it concerned. It states only the open count and the resolved share on the date measured. It is not a measure of review or rating activity, which removed reviews and plugins gaining no ratings cover separately. It also does not include plugins whose listing carries no thread count field.
