Changelog: From September 1 through 22, 2026

New

  • Rivale tells you when your own plugin falls behind WordPress. A new card appears when your readme’s “Tested up to” trails the current WordPress release, with the one thing that fixes it: update the readme. It clears itself once you do. Until now Rivale only ever pointed at competitors who were behind.
  • Change your password from Settings. Enter your current password and a new one under Account, with no reset email needed, and every other session you’re signed into is signed out.
  • Add your name. Set a first and last name in Settings or during onboarding, and Rivale greets you by name in the sidebar and in emails instead of showing your email address.

Improved

  • Compatibility cards stop piling up. A competitor stuck on an old WordPress release used to produce a fresh card on every WordPress release, while the older ones stayed on your Playbooks page repeating a version that was no longer current. It is now one card per competitor that keeps itself up to date and disappears when they catch up.
  • The README tab loads for every plugin. Large plugins with long readme histories used to fail to load entirely. It now loads the list first and fetches each change only when you open it.
  • Compare’s Content tab loads faster. It used to download each competitor’s changelog data twice; now it downloads it once.
  • Release history is back on the competitor page, sourced from the same version events Rivale already tracks, and pairs each release with its changelog entry.
  • The sidebar shows your name, once you’ve set one, instead of your email address.

Fixed

  • Notification history no longer claims “Delivered.” Rivale can confirm a notification was accepted for sending, not that it reached your inbox, so the history page now says “Sent.”
  • The trial-expired banner shows up when your trial expires, and the downgrade notice now describes what actually happens: your oldest projects without a tracked plugin are archived, and restored if you upgrade.
  • Security-update alerts work for every plugin’s changelog format, including ones that replace their whole changelog file on each release instead of appending to it.
  • Billing no longer guesses your plan on a hiccup. A failed lookup used to fall back to a fixed default plan; it now keeps your last known plan until the lookup succeeds.
